Every production places unique physical and mental demands on the people who bring it to life. On Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Film Physios were proud to support both the talent in front of the camera and the professionals working tirelessly behind it.

Working as part of the wider production team, our healthcare professionals provided physiotherapy, osteopathy and performance support throughout rehearsals and filming. From principal cast, stunt performers and the director to the hundreds of crew members responsible for keeping production moving, our role was simple: minimise downtime, maximise performance and help people stay production-ready.

The Challenge: Supporting Cast Performance

Our role was to work closely with the principal cast, stunt performers and director, providing rapid access to specialist healthcare throughout rehearsals and filming. The aim was to support the physical demands of performance, from preparation for physically demanding scenes and managing emerging injuries to recovery between filming days.

Working alongside the production’s medical team, we would provide an additional layer of specialist physiotherapy and osteopathic support, ensuring the cast and director had access to the right care at the right time — while also providing a reassuring and familiar presence throughout the production.

The Challenge: Keeping Crew Healthy Behind the Camera

We identified early that supporting the production meant looking beyond the cast and director. The physical demands of a major film production affect every department, from camera operators, grips and sparks to costume, hair and make-up, construction, assistant directors and production staff.

Our plan was to provide accessible Crew Clinics and on-set healthcare, giving crew members a straightforward route to specialist support for the aches, pains, injuries and physical demands that naturally arise during long and demanding production schedules.

Alongside injury management, we identified the need for recovery and preventative support, including on-set chair massage, recovery advice, rehabilitation programmes and personalised exercise plans. The aim was to help reduce fatigue, support recovery between filming days and keep people healthy, mobile and able to perform their roles — ultimately helping to keep the production productive.

The Solution: Healthcare That Moves With Production

Film production rarely follows a predictable schedule, so neither do we. Whether supporting rehearsals, responding to urgent on-set injuries, last minute location visits, providing on the lot appointments or offering out-of-hours treatment, our team adapted to the changing demands of production, ensuring healthcare remained accessible whenever and wherever it was needed.

Treatment combined hands-on physiotherapy and osteopathy with movement assessment, rehabilitation, recovery strategies, exercise prescription and return-to-performance planning, helping key members of the production remain comfortable, resilient and ready to perform throughout the shoot.
